Tom Bullock is an experienced, progressive leader with more than 16 years experience in government and public service, including work with top Ohio elected officials and service as a staff member in the United States Congress. Bullock, a lifelong Democrat and President of the Lakewood Democratic Club, worked actively on the campaigns of President Obama, Gov. Strickland, and U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown.

Bullock now serves on Lakewood City Council, where he works energetically as Public Works Chair to keep our community safe, clean, and family friendly and to make Lakewood a model green, historic city.  Among other accomplishments, Councilman Bullock has worked to:

•  Add officers to Lakewood’s police force;
•  Increase landlord and parental responsibility through a stronger nuisance ordinance and daytime curfews;
• Increase recycling and expand farmers markets;
• Preserve St. James and historic buildings; and
• Restore fiscal strength by helping pass the city’s first structurally-balanced budget in 22 years.

Bullock’s professional work includes efforts to grow clean energy jobs in Ohio by aiding development of wind, solar, and energy efficiency industries.  He has consistently stood up to end corruption and hold public officials accountable through reforms such as limits to big money in elections. He has also fought to stop Social Security privatization and to adopt the first minimum wage increase in Ohio in ten years.

Bullock received formal training in government in Washington, D.C., earning a B.A. in Political Science from American University.
